Memorial Plaques
The "Memorial Plaques" app is an interactive guide to the Karol Tchorek memorial plaques in Warsaw, offering access to their history by scanning QR codes.
The "Memorial Plaques" project was launched on the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, in cooperation with the Institute of National Remembrance and under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński, and the Ministry of National Defense. The project focuses on education and preservation of historical memory among the youth of Warsaw high schools.
The main challenge of the project was to create a modern, interactive method of history education that would engage young people and allow them to personally experience history through technology. It was important to combine traditional education methods with modern digital tools.
In response to this challenge, our company CODEAGENCY, in cooperation with the PGE Foundation, has developed mobile and web applications "Memorial Plaques." The apps allow users to browse the memorial plaques in Warsaw, scanning barcodes at the monuments to discover the descriptions and stories of each plaque. The app's interactive map allows users to easily find the 160 locations of the Karol Tchorek-designed plaques, contributing to an interactive and engaging educational experience.
